Happy 165th Birthday, E. G. W. Dietrich!

Today marks architect E. G. W. Dietrich's 165th birthday and the launch of this blog.  This platform will compliment posts on social media as well as share more in-depth information about Dietrich and his designs.  

Jacob and Johanna (Roenigk) Dietrich's first child was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 22, 1857 President George Washington's birthday.  They bestowed their new son with the name Ernest George Washington Dietrich honoring Jacob's younger brother Ernest and our nation's first president with whom he shared a birthday.  Known to his family as George, Dietrich always used his full set of initials as his professional identity.
