SCRANTON"S NORTH PARK NEIGHBORHOOD PART 2

The home of Robert E. and Minnie C. Hurley on Electric Street
Arthur Frothingham along with his uncle Robert E. Hurley and attorney Edward B. Sturges developed the North Park neighborhood in the Green Ridge section of Scranton. The centerpiece of their improvements to this parcel was Electric Street which together with Sunset Street created two serpentine avenues with landscaped medians at the inflection points. Architect E. G. W. Dietrich was hired to build several houses in the neighborhood including Robert E. Hurley's own home on Electric Street.
Edward B. Sturges built this home on Electric Street in 1889 and sold it soon after completion to W. W. Patterson. Photographed in 1909 (left) and today (right)
